Dear Bill and Tom,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I remember Mary Alice from many years ago and her family and mine were friends long before that. My grandmother, who you boys may remember, used to tell a story about when your mom was a small child. My Grandma Eva was a gardener and your mom would come down to watch her work in her garden. Grandma set aside a couple of plants that she said belonged to Mary Alice and she could take home whatever it was that grew on them. But she forgot to tell Dr. Johnson so your mom almost got in trouble for bringing home something from Eva's garden until he checked with Eva about it and found that Mary Alice was being truthful when she said that they were hers. I'm sorry I'd lost track of her the past few years. I hope her last years were good ones. She was a lovely person.
