Ellen Beatrice Kjenslee, age 91, of Mankato was called to her heavenly home on December 21, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.  Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue one hour before services at the church.

Ellen was born September 25, 1926 to Gust and Henrietta (Lee) Oldre in Kenneth, MN. She was a graduate of Magnolia High School and received her teaching certificate from Mankato State.  Ellen was united in marriage to Cleo Kjenslee on June 30, 1950 in Kenneth, MN.  Their 67 year loving partnership was a wonderful display of Christian marriage.  She was a nursing assistant at the Luverne Hospital and taught elementary grades in Hardwick and Luverne. Ellen had crocheted an afghan for each of her 3 daughters, 12 grandchildren and most of her 20 great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, games and doing crossword puzzles but mostly the time spent watching grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities was precious to her.  Ellen’s compassionate and gentle personality will be remembered by all.

She is survived by her husband Cleo Kjenslee; daughters, Carol (David) Hagen of Glenville, Connie (Joe) Meyer of Mankato and Cathy (Dean) Kluge of Mankato; stepson, Ron (Chris) Scheetz of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Joshua (Emily) Metcalfe, Kjersten (Josh) Hoyord, Noah (Tina) Metcalfe, Ben (Lindsey) Metcalfe, Brandon (Melissa) Meyer, Abigail (Matt) Shilling, Stephanie (Chad) Onken, Derek Meyer, Adam (Heather) Kluge, Kjelsey (Nick) Polzin, Austin Kluge (special friend Erin Smith), Chad Kluge (special friend Jenny Schmuck); great grandchildren, Sylvia, Nora, Alex and Ivy Metcalfe, Caleb, Lucas, Olivia, and Eli Hoyord, Abram and Hazel Metcalfe, Landon, Taylin, and Grifen Metcalfe, Hailey, Brianna, and Henry Meyer, Teddy Shilling, Grace, Jackson and Lily Onken, and baby Kluge to be born February 2018; sisters-in-law, Marlys (Al) Bringelson of Los Angeles, CA and LaVonne Kjenslee of Gresham, OR; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Carrie and Oscar Kjenslee; brothers, Norman (Ardis) Oldre, Vernon (Aagot) Oldre; sister, Ilene (Floyd) Jackson; sister-in-law, Virginia (Richard) Johnson and brother-in-law Lee Kjenslee.

Blessed be her memory.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15
