Patricia (Pat) Rose Petersen, 67, of North Mankato, surrounded by her family, peacefully passed away on December 31, 2017 at Janesville Nursing Home in Janesville, MN.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Thursday, January 4 at 11am at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel in Mankato, MN with Pastor Larry Griffin of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, MN officiating.

Pat was born to Edward and Vera Swartout (Blanshan) on January 29, 1950. She was baptized and confirmed in Mankato and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1968. Pat married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Stan Petersen, on October 17, 1970 and together raised two children, Shelli and Scott. She provided in home day care for over 40 years.  Pat truly enjoyed all the children in her care.
Pat’s family meant the world to her. She loved watching her grandchildren participate in sports and activities. She spent countless hours at ballfields, hockey rinks and school auditoriums. Pat had an adventurous spirit, and loved to share memories from the great things she experienced here on earth. Her smile lit up the room.

Pat leaves a family who love her and will miss her dearly including her loving husband of 47 years, Stan Petersen of North Mankato; daughter, Shelli (Ross) Nornes of Elysian, MN; son, Scott (Lorrie) Petersen of Minnesota Lake, MN; grandchildren Corey, Riley, Sydney and Megan; step grandchildren Courtney, Marcus and Paige; sisters, Jan (Tom) Tonneson of North Mankato and Jeri Schmit of Mesa, Arizona; brother Jim (Cathy) Swartout of Lake Crystal, MN; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
    
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carole (Gary) Morphew.

A special Thank You to the staff at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato, Mayo Hospice, Pastor Larry Griffin, and the wonderful staff at the Janesville Nursing Home. Your kindness and compassion are greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Hope Lodge in Minneapolis, American Cancer Society or Trinity Lutheran Church, Janesville, MN.
