   Norman W. “Norm” Gullickson, age 95 of Mankato, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato surrounded by his family.
   Funeral services will be Monday, March 16, 2020 at 1 P.M. at Hilltop United Methodist Church in Mankato, with Pastor Matt Sipe officiating. Military honors will be held immediately after services at the church, with a time of fellowship and refreshments to follow. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.            
   Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 11 A.M. until the hour of services at the church. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is handling arrangements.
   Norman Gullickson was born on April 22, 1924 in Hettinger, ND to Carl Clifford Gullickson and Ester Evelyn Larson.  He married Dorothy Darlene Hill in 1954 in Cresbard, SD. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University Brookings and a Master’s Degree from Mankato State College.  Norm was an Industrial Chemist in California and later a high school teacher at Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota.  He taught in Sitka, AK, Waseca, MN, at Mankato High School and Mankato West High School.  Norm taught Chemistry, Science and Photography.  He was head of the Audio Visual Department at West High School and past President of Southern MN Science Teacher’s Association.
   He was a veteran of WWII U.S. Army Air Force Engineers serving in the South Pacific.  Norm received the Purple Heart during his tour of duty. He belonged to the VFW Color Guard, American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans, South Dakota National Guard, Masonic Lodge and Hilltop United Methodist Church in Mankato.
   Norm enjoyed fishing and hunting, writing articles for the South Dakota Magazine, playing cribbage, going on hot air balloon rides on his 70th and 80th birthdays and dancing the jitter bug.  Norm loved spending time at his cabins in the Black Hills of South Dakota and teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish for trout in the lakes and streams.
   Norm is survived by his wife Darlene of Mankato; children, Deborah Findley, Barbara (James) Reed both of Mankato, Nancy (Thomas) Lynch of Novato, CA,  Michael Gullickson of Mankato, and Gary Gullickson of Anoka, MN;  his six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and step-brother Donald Gullickson of Spearfish, SD.
   Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ester Gullickson and sisters, Evelyn and Ramona Fay Gullickson.
