Joe Tummers died peacefully in his home in Apache Junction, AZ at the age of 63 on July 28th 2015.

Joe is survived by his mother Nellie Tummers (Mankato); son Joe (Erica) Tummers (Mankato) and grandchildren Ally and Dominic; daughter Kate (Eric) Friday (Minneapolis). He is preceded in death by his father Hein Tummers and sister Ricky Warner.

Joe was born on October 1st, 1951 in Hoensbroek Holland. The Tummers family moved to MN in 1955, and Joe attended school and college in Mankato. He had two children and was always very proud of their lives and accomplishments. Joe worked for MNDOT for 38 years and retired from his career as a senior engineering specialist.

Joe had many interests: golf, fishing, bowling, and was very sharp in both history and mathematics.  Joe lived his life exactly how he wanted, surrounded by friends. His kind and generous heart will be missed by many.

An open house celebration of life will be held at Woodland Hills Funeral Home, Mankato, Friday August 7th from 2 to 4pm followed immediately with a memorial service.

I worked with Joe at Mn/DOT for many years. He was always kind. I remember all his National Geographic Travel magazines he had. He always had pictures of his kids on his desk. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I knew Joe for many years while working at MnDOT. I'll remember Joe as a person that was interesting to talk and socialize with, good memories. I extend to his family my condolences.
