Mankato resident, Dean Torgerson, 67, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Regency Hospital in Golden Valley, MN.  A Celebration of Dean’s Life will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Dean was born November 12, 1948 in Madelia, MN to Arthur and Gladys (Jacobe) Torgerson.  He grew up in Lake Crystal and Mankato, graduating from Mankato High School and then attended South Central Technical College.  On June 10, 1967 he was married to Pamela Williams at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.  Dean was a former runner and ran both Grandma’s Marathon and the Twin Cities Marathon.  He worked for Swanson & Youngdale, Reichel & Sons, and for the last 10 years was a self-employed painter.

Family was top priority to Dean and growing up with very little made him strive to make sure his family was taken care of.  When he wasn’t collecting coins or tinkering in his shop, he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Dean is survived by his wife, Pam of Mankato; daughters, Melissa Larson of Hallock, MN and Tari Weir of Mankato; grandchildren, Brianna Tolman, Taylor Weir, Jack Weir and Oscar Larson; great grandson, Ivan Kittelson; step grandchildren, Austin Larson, Tristan Larson and Madisson Larson; brothers, Darrel (Jody) Torgerson, Curt (special friend, Peggy) Torgerson all of Mankato, Mike (Pat) Torgerson of Kasota, Dale Torgerson of North Mankato; sisters, Linda Roisum and Joyce Negaard both of North Mankato; sin-in-law, Pat Weir; brother-in-law, Donald Williams (special friend, Ken) of Jackson, MN; many nieces and nephews. Dean is also survived by his best bud “Odie”.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gladys, brother, Roger; niece, Gina Risk; son-in-law, Kevin Larson; brother-in-law, Rodger Williams.
