Joyce M. Edwards age 98, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Laurel’s Edge. She was a lifelong resident of Mankato.
Joyce was born on June 24, 1919, to Fred and Gladys (Pearson) Knoss .  She attended Rapidan schools. After graduation, she was employed by St. Joseph’s Hospital where she was trained by the Sisters of the Sorrowful  Mother as an LPN. She was employed as a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital for 40+  years prior to her retirement. After her retirement, she traveled with her daughter, Linda , to Honduras to volunteer with International Health Service. She was also a volunteer for the neighborhood block nurse program.
Joyce was married to William F. Edwards. Together they raised 4 children. They enjoyed hunting and fishing together and later bought and sold antiques at many flea markets in Minnesota. She loved the beautiful depression glassware and collected many pieces for herself. She loved collecting different piece of glassware. She was known as the swan lady because of her large collection of swans.  Joyce spent many hours doing beautiful embroidery work. She loved the holidays and festively decorated her home each season. Her love of cooking and baking was well appreciated by many. At Christmas, she was known to make hundreds of cookies, bars, fudge and fruit cake, which she always started the day after Thanksgiving.
Joyce was a member of Centenary Methodist Church of Mankato and was active in the women’s group. She was a volunteer office worker for many years. She loved working at the church rummage sale each year.
Joyce is survived by her son, Jerauld (Jerry) and his wife Beatrice of Mankato, daughters, Linda Erdman and her husband Warren, of Fort Myers ,Florida and Jane Staples and her husband Ron of Mankato. She has 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-greatgrandchild. She has two surviving sisters, Norma Footh, Rochester, Minnesota and Joann Prosser, San Antonio, Texas. She has numerous nieces and nephews and their families throughout the US.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 4 brothers, husband, son, John and his wife Linda, son-in-law Mike Lang and 3 grandsons.

Joyce was the nurse who was working the night I went into labor with my daughter. My baby girl did not survive but I will never forget Joyce's compassion that night. She was a wonderful nurse and person!
