Donald Braam, 81, of Mankato, MN died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 8, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato.  Interment with military honors will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue 1 hour prior to services at church.

Donald “Don” Braam was born March 14, 1936 in Mankato to John and Lucille (Rieff) Braam. Don served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957 and worked at North Star Concrete until retiring at age 62 after 40 years.  He married Jan Goblirsch on July 11, 1992 in Mankato. Don loved playing cards, reading, being in nature and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by his wife, Jan; 4 sons, Scott (Peggy) Braam, Crystal MN, Perry (Janet) Braam, Mankato, Greg Braam, Mankato and Randy Braam, Osage Beach, MO; step-children, Andy (Starla) Goblirsch, Good Thunder and Jaci (Justin) Baker, Mankato; grandchildren, Chris (Courtney) Braam, Cory (Tina) Braam, John (Crystal) Braam, Ariel (Brent) Braam, Courtney (Ralph) Booth and Carriell (Abrahm) Braam; 8 great grandchildren with 2 more due soon; 5 step grandchildren; brothers and sisters; Merle (Mary) Braam, North Mankato, Geri (Gary) Fitcher, Richmond, MN, David (Judy) Braam, Mapleton, Jo (Sig) Schmid, Centennial, CO, John (Sue) Braam, Cleveland, MN, Larry (Cindy) Braam, Mankato, Steve (Karen) Braam, Mankato, Teresa (Louis) Yezarski, Indianhead, MD, Patrick (Olga) Braam, Bellevue, WA; sister-in-law, Louise Braam, Mankato.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Frank and step-son, Tom Goblirsch.

Hi Jan and family. Don was a great neighbor and I will miss him. I will miss seeing Jan cut Don's hair in their back yard and talking with him over the fence. So many other good memories.
