Pauline “Penny” Marie Madsen lived a full life of 94 years and passed away on October 28, 2017.
There will be a Celebration of Penny’s Life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato.
She touched the lives of many during those 94 years as a daughter, wife, super mom, sister, aunt and good friend. Her generous, big-hearted, good-humored nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Penny called Mankato her home all of her adult life after living her childhood years on farms in the surrounding area. She worked many years at the National Bank of Commerce and the American State Bank and played a significant role in initiating the development of Old Town, helping to preserve a classic piece of Mankato’s historic downtown.
Penny had a soft spot for animals of all kinds and always had dogs and cats in her life to love and care for. She was an avid bird fancier and endlessly enjoyed watching the birds that came to her many feeders.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Clark Scott; husband, Marlin “Mike” Madsen; son, Gary Cummiskey; siblings, Scotty, Curtis, Gene, Delores Spreter, Meg Pulasky and Ev Edwards.
She is survived by her son John Cummiskey of Iowa City, IA and daughter Mary Jaax of Marathon, WI; nephews, Stan Edwards and his wife Judie, Mankato, Randy Scott of South Dakota, Brad Scott of Luverne, Doug Scott of Luverne, MN and John Plasky of Montana; nieces, Marilyn Robinson and her husband Chuck of Lake Crystal and Julie (Scott) Schleper and her husband Greg; cousin, Jim Kietzer and his wife Jodie of Mankato.
If you want to make a donation in Penny’s name, she would want you to give to BENCHS Riverside Regional Pet Shelter in North Mankato.
