Ione A. Styer left her family and friends to join her husband in heaven on April 28, 2018.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Dr. Scott E. Olson officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato and will continue on Tuesday morning for one hour prior to services at church. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is handling arrangements.
She was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin on April 4, 1927.  In 1945 she met the love of her life, Dick Styer.  They celebrated 70 years of marriage.  She loved being a wife, and a mother to their three girls.   After they retired, they spent their time Arizona.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, volunteering at MRCI Thrift Store.   They spent the last nine years at New Perspective Senior Living where they found new friends and a place they called home.  They told everyone they lived at the big house on the hill – New Perspective Senior Living.   We again so appreciate the loving care they gave our mother.
She will be truly missed by her daughters – Kathy Styer of Hermosa Beach, CA, Karla Gottry (Steve) of Phoenix, AZ, and Konnie (Keith) of Mankato.  She was so proud of her grandchildren – Maisie (Sean) Fossie of Minneapolis, Cory (Jessica) Pierson of Lakeville, and Kalla Paige Gottry of Phoenix, AZ.   She adored her great-grandchildren – Isaiah, Miles, Desmond, Norah and Adelyn, and of course “Mac” her cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard on 12/2/2017; sister, Anita Kothlow.

After over 70 years together, the impact of losing your love would be traumatic.....I know how difficult it will be - not to have your Mom in your life here, but I am so happy for her that she is now in the loving arms of your Dad. They were such a great pair and so fun to be around....Much love from Dick and I!!!

I am so sorry for your loss. I would have been come to the wake, but I did not see the notice until a day later.
I have great memories of your mom. When we were kids tearing around the neighborhood, you could always count on a smile from her. She was a great lady and along with your pop, raised a really nice family. You were good caregivers.
I enjoyed seeing your folks at Pathstone. It was a pleasure to visit with them.
I wish you God's peace, courage and strength in the days ahead.
