    Irene M. (Nepstad) Weingartz, age 84 of Mankato, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato.
    A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11 A.M. at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato with Rev. Dr. Scott E. Olson officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
    Irene’s Family will greet friends on Friday morning for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is handling arrangements.
    Irene May was born on August 19, 1933 to Emil and Tena (Redalen) Rain in Fountain, Minnesota. She graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1951. She was united in marriage in 1953 to Archie Nepstad in Fountain. After their marriage Irene and Archie lived in Rochester for a short time before moving to Mankato in 1955. Irene began her career working for Dezotel Trucking and Johnson Fishing for many years. She then was employed for 30 years as a secretary for Honeymead/Harvest States Cooperative in Mankato until her retirement in 1999. On October 9, 1976 she was united in marriage to Robert Weingartz in Mankato until his passing on April 10, 2013. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. Irene enjoyed reading, bingo, and trips to the casino with her friends. She loved time spent with her family.
    She is survived by her son, Ron (Joy) Nepstad of Enid, OK; daughter, Renee (Dick) Verkinderen of Mankato; grandchildren, Bobbie (friend Barry) Nepstad of Oklahoma City, OK. Jamie (Cortney) Litterell of Enid, OK, Windy (Brad) Wood of Yukon, OK, Chet Redding of Blackwell, OK;  5 great-grandchildren, Anslee and Daegan Litterell, Riley and Reese Wood, Cash Redding; brother, Tilford Rain of Chatfield; sister, Betty Brekke of Chatfield; step-children, Randy (Vicki) Weingartz of Mankato,  Russ (Fiancée Eleanor) Weingartz of Mankato, Ray Weingartz of Mankato, Roxanne (Fiancé Don Bybee) Weingartz of Mankato; step-grandchildren, Ben Weingartz, Tony Weingartz, J.R (Evie) Weingartz, Mya Bybee, Chris (Naomi) Weingartz; step-great grandchildren, Emma Weingartz, Jayden Weingartz; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Archie Nepstad and Robert Weingartz; sister-in-law, Betty Rain; brother-in-law, Conrad Brekke.
    Mom we will never forget your love and compassion, we will miss you very much.
    The family of Irene Weingartz would like to send our heartfelt Thanks to all who showed their support and understanding during our time of grief. Special Thanks to Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato and Palliative Care for taking such good care of our mother. Also a Special Thank You to friends and neighbors for all the food and support they have given us.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I will never forget all of the good times we all spent together over all the years and at the car races, just enjoying a few beers once in awhile and mostly just being the best of friends. Archie was the best man at our wedding and Irene was my maid of honor.

Ron, Renee and family so sorry for your loss. So many good memories of Irene. My mother Julie loved her dearly! Thinking of you all during this difficult time.
