Allan Aust, 70, Mankato, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.  Funeral services will be held at 3pm Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be held from 1pm until the time of the services.  A graveside service will be held at 1pm Friday, September 21, 2018 at Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato.  

Allan was born July 16, 1948 to James and Catherine (Goodwin) Aust in Montevideo, MN.  He graduated from LuVerne High School in 1966 then went on to receive degrees at Worthington State Junior College and Mankato State College.  Allan was united in marriage to Joan Erickson on October 5, 1974 at the United Methodist Church in Mankato.  Following college he worked for Pyramid Life Insurance and then later established Al Aust Insurance Agency.  Allan also worked at Matt J. Graif on the weekends until 2012.  He also worked at Mankato East High School as a janitor from 2001-2014.  Allan retired from employment in 2014.  

Fishing has been a big hobby throughout his life.  He would enjoy fishing with his friends in Canada yearly and teaching his daughter to fish.  He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He loved sports and dedicated a lot of his extra time teaching his daughter sports and traveling the United States for Sports competitions.  

Allan is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Coty) Aust and Leah Aust; grandson, Tyler Aust: and brother, Larry (Annette) Aust.  

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Aust; parents, James and Catherine Aust; and step mother, Donna Aust.

Sad. Sorry for your loss. He was a great guy. The nicest person I've worked with. Just heard about his passing from a former co-worker of mine. We all loved Al.
