Woodland Hills Funeral Home

    Ruth J Spore, age 81 of Mankato, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Mankato.
    Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1 P.M. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Pastor Collette Broady Grund officiating. Internment will be in Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is handling arrangements.
    Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 11AM to 1PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church before the Funeral Service.
    Ruth Joy was born on February 7, 1937 to Lester and Ethel (Sante) Schmidt in Judson Township. Ruth graduated from Mankato High School. On March 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Clayton H. Spore in Mankato. She thoroughly enjoyed working many years as a cook in the school cafeteria at Mankato West High School. She was a long-time member of Bethlehem Church in Mankato. She was active in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the sewing Guild at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Ruth enjoyed sewing, Quilting, visiting and traveling with family and friends.
    She is survived by her son C. Eric (Gina) Spore of Houston, TX; daughter, Shannon J. (Dave) Wright, Blaine, MN; son Leif O. (Julie) Spore, Sauk Rapids, MN; son Bjorn H. Spore, Mankato, MN; grandsons Thor Wright, Caleb Spore, Garrett Spore and Gunther Spore; granddaughters MacKenzie Hansen, Jocelyn Throne, Leta Dahlgren, Bailey Letourneau, Zada Spore, Freya Spore; 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews; her brother Eugene Schmidt of New Brighton, MN; and special friends Joan Kleen and Mavis Gessner.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clayton in 1981; brothers, Robert and Donald Schmidt.
