Loren “Hank” Weber, 92, longtime resident of North Mankato, passed away on April 23, 2019.
Hank was born to parents William and Violette Weber on February 11, 1927 in Austin, MN. Hank graduated from Mankato High School in 1945, making life-long friends throughout his high school days. Hank proudly enlisted in the US Army, serving in WW II and Korea. As a medic in the Army, Hank served aboard the USAHS Ernestine Koranda and the USAT George Washington Carver in Korea and the South Pacific.
On December 29, 1951, he married the love of his life, Jean Gruenzner.  For 63 years, they made their home in and around the North Mankato area with their five children.  Hank enjoyed the countryside while being a Mankato rural mail carrier for over 30 years.
Hank was a proud North Mankato Fire Department retiree, an avid golfer, a big Minnesota Twins baseball fan, and he enjoyed Canadian fishing trips with friends and spending winters in Arizona. Family was his greatest treasure. Laughter came easy for Hank, especially during summers at the cabin on Lake Jefferson with friends and family, on pontoon rides, enjoying the annual fish fry, or visiting around the campfire.
Hank is survived by and will be greatly missed by daughters Mary Cole (Brenda Peters) of Prior Lake, Nan (Garry) Mann of rural North Mankato, sons Tom (Bev) of Carver, Paul (Ginger) of Mankato and Pete (Lisa) of rural North Mankato. Hank was so proud of his 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Hank was preceded in death his parents, his wife, Jean, beloved sister Beverly Grigry and infant granddaughter, Nicole Mann.
The Weber family will greet friends on Monday, April 29, 2019, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue Tuesday morning for one hour prior to services.
A celebration of Hank’s life will be Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Woodland Hills Chapel, 1605 Woodland Avenue in Mankato with Fr. Joe Fogal officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Kerns Oak Grove Cemetery.
