Leonard G. Mettler of North Mankato passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Fr. Paul van de Crommert, officiating.  Private interment will be at Woodland Hills Outdoor Mausoleum.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato and will continue at the church 1 hour prior to the service.

Leonard was born May 19, 1928 to Charlie and Elizabeth Mettler in North Mankato.  He attended Mankato Public Schools.  Leonard married the love of his life, Elaine Jeanette Dorn on June 6, 1950 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nicollet.  Leonard enjoyed woodworking gardening, and baking.  He loved going to garage sales and dancing on Bandwagon with his wife.  Leonard worked at ADM for 40 plus years.   His other love was his religion.  A very strong catholic man, he enjoyed going to church and having his family there with him, and was a longtime member of Holy Rosary

Leonard is survived by nine children, Dean (Julie) of Mankato, Kim of  Mankato, Fay (Jeff) Butson of Vernon Center , Dawn Baumberger of Mankato, Gwen (Tim) Ruch of Mankato , Lyn (Larry) Storlie of Mankato, Lola (Mark) McDermott of Owatonna , Todd (Barb) of North Mankato, and Van (Lori) of Mankato; 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren and counting; two great great grandchildren; siblings, Ray (Marge), Millie, Rosie, Dorothy, and David, daughter in-law Linda of Lake Crystal

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Wayne; infant son, Anthony; great grandchild, Jackson; brothers; sisters; and son in-law Fred Baumberger.

Lyn & Gwen,
I will not be able to make either visitation. I want to express my deepest sympathy on the loss of your Dad. Your parents are now reunited with each other and with Wayne. Hold on to all the wonderful memories you have shared with Dad. Love and Hugs to you Both.
