   Jerald G. Born 69 of Lake Crystal, MN, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020, of a long battle with cancer, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems of St. James, Minnesota.
   A Celebration of Jerald’s life has been POSTPONED and will be announced at a later time. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements.
   Jerald was born on February 2, 1950 to Henry and LuVerne (Metzler) Born in Waseca, MN. Jerry attended Janesville Lutheran School and also Pemberton School. On April 2, 1976 Jerry was united in marriage to Ruth Smith in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Jerry worked as a laborer for many, many years until his retirement in 2004. He was well known for his work in recycling appliances and other miscellaneous items. Jerry also loved working on his truck, and also watching wrestling, (SmackDown) (WWE) and the Western channel, he liked helping others as well. He was a man of many stories, and he loved telling them to his family and friends. Jerry was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal, and he enjoyed spending his time at church congregating with other church members.
   Jerry is survived by his wife Ruth of Lake Crystal, MN; 3 sons, Jeremy Born, Jamey (Crystal) Born, Jason Smith (Michelle Sistrunk) all from Mankato, MN; 3 daughters, Christine (Keith) Slinger of Post, TX, Heidi (Tate) Schily of St. Peter, MN, Heather Born (Jerry Ball) of Lake Crystal, MN, 1 sister, Judy Johnston of Mankato, MN, 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and other family members.
   Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and LuVerne Born, daughter, Connie Born; Grandson, Dustin Miller; 1 sister, Beth Miller; and 3 brothers, Wally, Bill and Marlin. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the community.
