Surrounded by his family, Cleo B. Kjenslee, age 100, of Mankato, Minnesota, was called to his heavenly home on February 3, 2020, at New Perspective Senior Living in Mankato. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will take place at the church prior to the service, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. woodlandhillsh.com

Cleo was born November 5, 1919, to Oscar and Carrie (Lee) Kjenslee in Brookings, South Dakota. Cleo graduated from Brookings High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from February 1942 – May 1945. During his military service, T/Sgt. Cleo was stationed in England and completed 73 missions in a B-26 Marauder acting as the radioman-gunner. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross with 12 Oak Clusters. Cleo was united in marriage to Ellen Oldre on June 30, 1950 in Kenneth, MN. Their 67-year loving partnership was a wonderful display of Christian marriage. He was the owner of Kjenslee’s Upholstery in Luverne for over 50 years. Excelling in his trade, many friends and family still have cherished furniture reupholstered by him. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, bowling in his younger years, following the Minnesota Twins and most importantly - time spent with his cherished loved ones. Cleo was active in his church and served for many years as a Deacon at Bethany Lutheran in Luverne. He was a member of the Luverne VFW.

Grateful to have been part of his life, he is survived by daughters, Carol (David) Hagen of Glenville, Connie (Joe) Meyer of Mankato and Cathy (Dean) Kluge of Mankato; son, Ron (Chris) Scheetz of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Joshua (Emily) Metcalfe, Kjersten (Joshua) Hoyord, Noah (Tina) Metcalfe, Ben (Lindsey) Metcalfe, Brandon (Melissa) Meyer, Abigail (Matt) Shilling, Stephanie (Chad) Onken, Derek (Laura) Meyer, Adam (Heather) Kluge, Kjelsey (Nick) Polzin, Austin Kluge (girlfriend Erin Smith), Chad Kluge (fiancé Megan Groves); great-grandchildren, Sylvia, Nora, Alex and Ivy Metcalfe, Caleb, Lucas, Olivia, and Eli Hoyord, Abram and Hazel Metcalfe, Landon, Taylin, and Grifen Metcalfe, Hailey, Brianna, and Henry Meyer, Teddy and Kellen Shilling, Grace, Jackson and Lily Onken, Evelyn Meyer, and Audrey and Baby Boy Kluge; sister, Marlys (Al) Bringelson of Los Angeles, CA and many other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen; parents and in-laws Gust and Henrietta Oldre; sister, Virginia (Richard) Johnson and brother Lee (LaVonne) Kjenslee; brothers-in-law, Norman (Ardis) Oldre, Vernon (Aagot) Oldre; sister-in-law, Ilene (Floyd) Jackson.
