Richard Merle Anderson, age 76, of Mankato, MN died Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Parkview Care Center in Wells, MN.  Private interment will be held at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.  Memorial services will be announced at a later date.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is assisting with arrangements.

Richard was born November 11, 1943 in Mankato, MN to Merle and Marion (McCollum) Anderson.  He graduated high school and went on to earn an Associate Degree in Accounting.  On August 23, 1969 he was united in marriage to Julie Ann Ralphs at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato.  He worked many years as a clerk for the United States Postal Service.

Richard was a loving father who taught all his children to play cards and board games.  He was an excellent chess and cribbage player.  He also enjoyed sports, bowling, playing pool, throwing darts, biking, swimming and being outdoors.  He loved to take small road trips with the family especially to amusement parks or fairs for live music shows.  He always loved animals particularly dogs and cats.  He will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, generosity, practical jokes, sense of humor, infectious laugh, and thoughtful wink.  He was a devoted member of the Catholic Church.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Anderson of Mankato, MN, Tamara Anderson of Portland, OR and Tracy Kilday of Bozeman, MT; granddaughter, Keagan Kilday and grandson, Riordan Kilday of Bozeman, MT; sister, Terry Williquett of Mankato, MN; nephew, Jason Jasperson and niece, Erica Jasperson of Mankato, MN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie and his parents, Merle and Marion.
