James E. Hiniker, Sr., age 84, died Monday, July 13, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mankato.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

James was born January 19, 1936 in Mankato, MN to Elmer and Mary (Trio) Hiniker. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1958 serving until 1961. On October 15, 1960 he was united in marriage to Ruth Darlene Lind in Minneapolis, MN. He was owner and operator of Hiniker Construction for over 25 years.

James liked going to auctions, dancing at the Kato Ballroom, John Deere Caterpillars, drives in the country, his Wednesday and Saturday coffee with his buddies at Bakers Square, and especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Mankato; sons, James Elmer (Barbara) Hiniker, Jr. of Remer, MN, Patrick David (Julie) Hiniker of Mankato, Dale Benjamin (Sharon) Hiniker of Nicolett, MN, Kevin Christopher (Marvel) Hiniker of Winnebago, MN; daughters, Rachel Dolores Roberts (Paul) of Stafford, VA, Lori Marie Truebenbach (Brian) Vernon Center, MN; 30 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; brother, Michael Hiniker (Mary) of Mankato, MN,; sister, Margaret Williams of Sioux City, IA; brother-in-law, Robert Kreuzer of Mankato; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson James Lucas Hiniker; great grandson, Rowen Roberts ; brothers, Ray and Paul Hiniker; sister, Louise Kreutzer.
