Florence Hendricks passed away peacefully at Water's Edge Senior Living on Sunday morning April 18, 2021 at the age of 105.   Florence Alvina (Fruehling) Hendricks was born in the German farming community of Raymond, Minnesota on August 23, 1915.  The family moved off the homestead and into Willmar, Minnesota, when Florence was five and she began learning and speaking English by playing with the neighborhood children.  She completed high school and beauty college in Willmar and worked as a hairdresser in a variety of communities in Minnesota.  While traveling, she met Byron Hendricks, a Crookston native. They were married in 1940 and soon moved from Faribault to Minneapolis.  After raising her two children in South Minneapolis, Florence and Byron returned to Willmar where they purchased and managed a motel and mobile home park.  They retired to Bloomington, MN after traveling throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe.  They moved to a retirement community in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas where they enjoyed golf, square dancing, Bridge, gardening, and making lifelong friends.  When her husband's health began to fail they moved to McLean, Virginia to be near family. Seven years after her husband passing, she moved with her daughter to Venice, Florida.  A few years later, missing the Minnesota seasons she moved to Mankato to be near her son.  She was one of the first residents of a newly complete Keystone senior living complex.  She continued to be active in playing cards, bible studies and ran a daily exercise program.  At age 100, after surviving breast cancer in her 70's and 80's, a serious fall required that she move to a facility that provided more care.

Florence experienced women gaining the right to vote, World War I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the development of radio and TV, computers and the internet, space technology, the Spanish flu of 1918, eradication of Polio, COVID-19 and 19 presidents of the United States.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Arvin Fruehling. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Racca of Venice, Florida, son Bradley (Ann) Hendricks of Mankato, grandchildren Bret Jacobson of Dallas, Texas, Sam (Amy) Hendricks of Fort Collins, Colorado, Max (Liz) of Boise, Idaho, Olivia (Scott) Robbins of Springfield, Illinois, and 6 great-grandsons.

A private family celebration and internment will be held.

I want to offer my deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers on the passing of Florence. I remember her well as she was a Resident at Keystone (now New Perspective). I am still there! What a joy she was while living at Keystone then and how active she was! Everyone including me just loved her! She should have received the award for the Most Active Resident! She was such a dear, sweet, kind and gentle Friend to all who knew her! What an amazing life she's lived! It was truly a pleasure to have known her! Blessed be her memory!
