Patti (Brescancini) Gooler age 87 of Mankato passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at her home. Born on September 14,1933 in Minneapolis MN to Pietro and Feni (Mazzanti) Brescancini after her family emigrated from Italy.  Patti was the youngest of five siblings and while growing up loved sports, including tennis, golf, curling, speed skating having majored in Physical Education at University of Minnesota.

United in marriage to Forrest (Woody) Gooler August 28, 1954, Patti and Woody made their home in Mankato, raised their family and opened their hearts to many. This dynamic duo enjoyed entertaining friends and family; from elaborate dinner parties to backyard bocce games. They were active in their community attending dance fundraisers and performing in local musicals. Along with raising her family and caring for her grandchildren, she worked as a retail clothing buyer and manager for Thompson's Women Clothing store for many years. A passion for travel, one of Patti's fond memories of her Italian heritage was returning to her roots in the Tuscan region of Italy with her dear friend Sis, visiting with her relatives and attending a private small group meeting with Pope Francis.  Patti always found time for volunteering at school events, Cottagewood Memory Care, Pathstone, and Hospital Auxiliary. Many know Patti for her love of growing beautiful gardens filled with veggies, herbs, and flowers which she loved to share with family and friends. As a U of M Alumni Patti loved the Gophers, and never missed watching her Minnesota Vikings.

Patti, our fierce matriarch, was lovingly referred to as Mama, not only to her grandchildren, but to many dear friends and extended family. Always greeting her loved ones with an exclamation of 'oh Mama Mia!' nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, always signing her cards and notes with an 'xoxo.' Joined now by her beloved husband, she leaves behind many loved ones, including her children Scott (Sheila) Gooler, Leslie (Paul) Bohnert, Tracey (David) Neel. Grandchildren Jessica (Scott) Buskey, Lauren (Cam) Snyder, Corey (Dan), Jack (Becky), Sarah (Andrew) Long, and Grace Gooler. Great Grandchildren Max, Ethan, Olivia, Sophia. Special Family Tom and Jackie Samuelson, Al and Julia Roehm (Elizabeth (Matt), Tressa (Jake) and Teagynn), Lynn and Wanda Flitter (Tanner, Tessa (Aaron), Aiden, Soren), and many nieces, nephews, granddogs and friends that Patti loved very large!  Most of all Mama loved and cherished her family, friends, entertaining, happy hours, watching football, making sugo and biscotti for all! In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Join us at Woodland Hills Funeral and Chapel on Friday, July 16th for visitation at 12pm, followed by Celebration of Life at 1:30 pm. The family invites you to join us for a light lunch catered by one of Mama's favorites.

Te amo grande xoxo
