Mankato resident Lloyd Henry Menk, age 86, died Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Health Care System-St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.  Private family services will be held.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is handling arrangements.

Lloyd was born September 20, 1934 in Redwood County, Minnesota to Erwin and Meta (Otto) Menk.  He attended country school and graduated from Morgan High School. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956.  On April 6, 1957 he married LaVonne Ziegenhagen.

Lloyd farmed and was a state grain inspector for 50 years. He loved animals, was an avid gardener, and liked to grow beautiful orchids. He liked to fish, do woodworking, feeding and watching birds, weaving rugs on his rug loom, and sometimes just sit and listen to soft music. Lloyd loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, LaVonne; his children, Greg (Pam) Menk of St. Peter, MN, Lori (Nate) Jacobsen of Jackson, MN, Chris (Jody) Menk of Cokato, MN, Valerie (Lane) Raichert of Minnetonka, MN; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 3 step grandchildren.  He is also survived by his beloved cat “Scooter”, and numerous friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
