Obituary

Arthur W. Rosin, 94, Mankato, died Wednesday August 2, 2023.  Memorial service will be held at 1pm Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  Memorials are preferred to Ecumen Hospice.  woodlandhillsfh.com

Art was born September 23, 1928 in Good Thunder to Arthur C. and Rose (Heiser) Rosin.  He was united in marriage to Phyllis Nadine Schutte on December 27, 1951 in Mapleton.  Art attended Good Thunder High School and MSU – Mankato.  He worked at Sears Dept Store in Mankato for 15 years and then ran his own Whole Sale Meat business for 20 years.  Art enlisted in the Army in October 1946 and served in the occupation of Korea and was discharged in March 1948.  Following he enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard and was recalled to active duty on January 1951 to July 1952.  He retired from the Guard in 1968 and retired from the Ready Reserves in 1980 at the rank of Major.   Art was a Life Member of the Reserve Officers Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was awarded lifetime membership in the American Legion Post 11, serving 2nd District Commander from 1994- 95.  He also served on the American Legion Department of Minnesota Pheasant (Pheasants for Hospitalized Veterans) dinner program for many years.  He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Mankato. 

He is survived by wife, Phyllis Rosin of Mankato married for 71 years ; son in-law Tom Beerling and his family, Andy (Dorie) Beerling, James, Lily, & Drew; and Erin (Eric) Zimmerman, Tatum & Elle; children, Lori (Marty) Frederick of North Mankato and her family, Matt (Meighan) Frederick, Landen, Carson, & Ethan, and Kelsey (Anthony) Theis, Sebastian & Adriana, Carly Gernbacher (Jack), Asher, and Hayes; Joni McCluhan of Mankato and her family, Neil McCluhan, Anthony McCluhan, (Ellen) & Joe McCluhan; and  Gary (Denise) Rosin of Sartell and his family, Niki (Aaron) Halbe, Elsa, Jack, & Sonja; Allison (Will) Hornseth, Natalie & Lincoln and Tyler (Aimee) Rosin, Brynn & Marco

Art is preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Beerling; son in-law Rick McCluhan; parents; brothers, Jerome and his wife Patricia Rosin, George and his wife Marliss Rosin, and Aldo Seppman; and sister, Violet and her husband Wally Roerig: and nephew, Alan Rosin.
