Audrey O. Waknitz

Audrey O. Waknitz (nee Forrey), passed away on August 28th, 2024 in Mankato at the age of 96. She was born on July 3rd, 1928 to Guy and Lello Forrey in rural Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1946. She was married to Armin C Waknitz for 62 years and had 2 daughters, Cindy and Sandy. She was employed by school district 77 for 24 years. Audrey had a passion for traveling with an adventurous spirit including a hot air ballon ride with her grandson for her 60th birthday.  Her artistic talent was displayed through her drawings and paintings many of which she shared with her family.

She is survived by daughters, Cindy Ullrich of Bloomington and Sandra Axzen (Randy) of Mankato; grandson, Ryan Schmidt (Janelle) of Pennsylvania, 2 special nieces Nancy Reid and Susan Cashin and special fur grandbabies – Elee and Lucy.

Audrey is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters and many other in-laws.

Memorial services will be held at 11am Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the services.  Private interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  woodlandhillsfh.com
