Barbara L. Anderson

Barbara L. Anderson, age 69 of Mankato, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems- Mankato.

A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at The Eagles Club (708 North Riverfront Dr. in Mankato) from 1pm to 6pm. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements. www.woodlandhillsfh.com

Barb was born on July 17th, 1953 to Lyle and Geraldine (Nelson) Spenger in Mankato, Minnesota. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1971. She was united in marriage to Charles Anderson on May 23rd, 1981. She joined Charlie in operating Spinners Bar and Grill in North Mankato until they sold it in 1997. While operating Spinners Bar, Barb also was an office manager at Kato Sanitation and worked for Nicollet County Social Services for a short time before accepting a position at Voyager Bank as a teller. Once she retired her and Charlie moved to International Falls into their dream home. There they ran Charlie’s Car Care and Border Turf Equipment. They enjoyed the “North Woods” and Rainy Lake together until the passing of Charlie. Barb moved back to Mankato to be closer to her children.

Barb’s passions and hobbies included gardening, riding motorcycle, caring for her dogs and cats, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed going up north and spending days outside on the lake or deck. She was a member of River Valley Chapter of ABATE and the Patriot Guard Riders for many years.

Barb is survived by her children Jacob Anderson and Marjorie Ploeger of Lake Crystal, MN; Lacy and Beau Matthies (Tanner) of Mankato, MN; Step daughters Shannon and Matt Zebro (Samual, Lauren, Macy, Maya) of Wells, MN; Lexi King (George, Vivian) of Waukee, IA; Nieces Katie Spenger and Ryan Keever of Richfield, MN; Elizabeth Spenger (Nevaeh) of North Mankato; Jade and Abner Rojas (Aubrielle, Olivia) of Mankato, MN; Brooke White (Aaris) of Fairmont, MN; and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charlie; her parents; brother James Spenger; her inlaws, Carl and Jeanne Anderson; brother-in-law David Anderson.
