Bill was born August 26, 1937, to William and Hazel (Grassinger) Sargent. He attended school in Good Thunder, MN. He spent his time helping his father repair cars and working for local farmers during the summer. In 1956 Bill married Jeanette (Gessner) and they bought a house in Kasota in 1962. They had 5 children together. Bill was a construction worker, driving dump trucks for Lundins and WW Blacktopping. He also owned his own side business, Bill’s Salvage and Repair, working as a mechanic. Bill had many hobbies including raising purebred labs and owning a small hobby farm with horses, ducks, geese, pigs and chickens. He enjoyed fishing and hunting every season, throughout his life. Bill raced a hobby stock class at the St. Peter Speedway and in 1963 built his own sprint car. He drove until 1976 when he was injured at work and turned the wheel over to his son, Mike. Together they continued to race for many years. Bill taught his children a lot about being self-sufficient. After his injury he found alternative ways to support his family. Bill sold and repaired computers, electronics, satellite dishes and CB radios. He became a member of the old timer's club in 1980 and communicated with others across the world, including places like Belgium, Australia, Canada, and all over the USA. In 1987 he moved to MO and owned his own live bait shop and package store before moving back home to Kasota a few years later. Bill enjoyed living out the rest of his life teaching himself new skills and spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his Sister Sharon of Colorado, His Son Terry of Janesville, Daughter Robin of Madison Lake, Son Will (Ann) of St. Clair, Daughter Tami of Blue Earth and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
