Brad Baumgartner, 63, of Good Thunder, passed away unexpectedly while walking the dogs on Saturday, April 4, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held at Caribou Gun Club in Le Sueur Saturday May 2nd, 2026 from 11am – 3pm.
Brad was born on May 28, 1962, to Ralph and Nancy Baumgartner in Mankato. He attended the University of Minnesota Crookston to study Environmental Resources. On September 17, 1994, he was united in marriage to Rita Marie Prom at their Lake Washington home.
Brad spent two seasons as a forest firefighter and earned his pilot’s license before beginning a 33-year career at Crown Cork & Seal. He was a dedicated outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, sitting by the fire, spending time at the cabin, and walking his dogs around the farm. A true "Mr. Fix-it," Brad could build or repair anything, especially for his girls. He also enjoyed making maple and walnut syrup and was rarely seen without an RC. Community-minded, Brad was involved with 4H Shooting Sports and Wildlife, and enjoyed being a trap shooting coach.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Baumgartner; daughters, MaKenzie (Hunter) and Gillian (Myles) Baumgartner; brother, Bryan Baumgartner; sisters, Cindy (Gary) Woods and Connie (Kevin) Baynes; mother-in-law, Diane Prom; brother-in-law, Brian (Sarah) Prom; sister-in-law, Kathy (Robert) Prom; several nieces and nephews; and his dogs, Phoenix and Jade.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Nancy; his father-in-law, David Prom; and his beloved dogs, Chief, Tamarack, Dakota, and Cody.
