Carol was born December 5, 1925 to Frances and Perry Schmit in Mankato. She was married in 1947 to Vern Orcutt and together they had four children. Greg Orcutt of Tampa, FL, Nancy (Kevin) Thom of Mankato, Brad (Ann) Orcutt of Parker, CO, and Mary Helm of Little Falls, Minnesota.
Carol was an active volunteer all her adult life. Her volunteer work gave her the joy and meaning of life. She volunteered at the hospital, worked on the symphony board, and loved calling bingo at a local nursing home, just to name a few. She enjoyed golf, tennis, and time at the lake. Playing bridge was a big part of her life, sometimes playing three times a week. Music was also a big part of her life. She loved attending the band concerts in Sibley Park as well as the Mankato Symphony concerts. She enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Arizona and Florida. Family was always important to her. She enjoyed hosting the family get togethers every Christmas Eve and continued to do this until age 97. Her beef burgundy was a hit!
She is survived by her sister, Marion Clements and brother-in-law, Tom Clements, her children, ten grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vern, sister Harriet Griffin, brother-in-law, Jim Griffin, and daughter-in-law, Brenda Orcutt.
Suggested memorials are to St. Joseph the Worker Church, Mankato and St. Croix Hospice, Mankato.
