Charles Patrick Virkus, 38 of Mankato, MN passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
Charlie was born on October 1, 1983, in Coon Rapids, MN to Leonard Sr. and Helen Virkus. He spent his life living around the New Ulm and Mankato area. He earned his GED, and then continued his education at South Central College in North Mankato, where he graduated with an Associate's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering on May 15, 2014. He was currently a Maintenance Technician at Berry Global and was also employed by the Mankato Free Press as a motor route driver.
Charlie was a family man. He was devoted to his children Chanlier, Carson, and Chloe Virkus. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, bonfires, working on cars, going to county and state fairs, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He was an enjoyable person all around and loved to make people laugh.
Charlie is survived and loved by his mother, Helen Virkus; fiancée, Heather Boone, and their three children, Chanlier, Carson, and Chloe; two additional children, Charles and Ethan Benzkofer; brothers and sisters, Lenny Virkus Jr., Karen (Sam) Reed, Shannon Virkus, and Chris Virkus; nieces and nephews, especially Tim Reed, Jasmin Virkus and Danielle Virkus; one great-nephew; several aunts and uncles, especially aunt Candy Gram; and several cousins, especially Tina Ellingson and Jennifer Sellner.
Charlie is preceded in death by his father Leonard Virkus Sr.; infant sister; grandpa August Virkus; grandma Hilma Johnson; uncle Tom Virkus; aunt Bunny McKee; as well as other aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the Eagles Club in Mankato, MN from 1-5pm.
