Clarice Sizer Obituary

Clarice Lynn Sizer, of St. James, passed away at home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 8, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15th from 2:00-4:00 PM at the St. James VFW, with a short service being offered at 1:00 PM for those who wish to attend.

Clarice was born May 26th, 1962, to Harlan & Phyllis (King) Thompson in St. James, MN. She graduated from St. James Senior High School in 1980. Electing for woodshop that same year provided the perfect opportunity for a brazen underclassman to propose marriage without preamble or standing. While his proposal was met with stunned silence, they reconnected on New Year's Eve and from then on never left each other’s side. She married Todd Nathan Sizer on April 11th, 1981 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Together, they raised two delightfully precious wonderful fantastic children, Jacqueline and Jake. In the years to follow they were fortunate to welcome three grandchildren and one great(est) grandchild.

After the kids grew up, Clarice & Todd put their energy into overhauling a historic local building, turning it into a beautiful family home. Clarice had the vision, Todd had the know-how, one was desire and the other the means. She brought joy into every space she entered with her signature laugh and abundant personality. Clarice’s family was her whole world, and her family loved her very much… she will be missed beyond measure.

Clarice leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Todd Sizer. Her two children Jackie (Terry) Rust and Jake (Shannon) Sizer. Grandchildren Hannah Carstensen, Isaac Carstensen, and Hayden Redmond. Great grandson Wyatt Carstensen. As well as numerous loving relatives and friends.

Clarice was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Thompson.

A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived when I was strong.

-Grief is the price you pay for love.

Flowers and condolences can be sent to 112 Armstrong Blvd. S, in St. James MN 56081
