Claudia Eisberg Obituary

Pauline Claudia Eisberg, aged 87, of Mankato, MN passed away January 10, 2025, at The Pillars in Mankato, MN.

Claudia was born January 28, 1937, in Chicago, IL to Olivette Ruth (Armstrong) Cole and Shephard Averell Cole. She had one sister, Joyce Linda Cole and one brother, Stuart Loren Cole.  Soon after her birth, Claudia was baptized into Christ and became a child of God.

Claudia met her husband, Keith V. Eisberg, at Valparaiso University. They were married August 25, 1956 in La Porte, IN. Claudia was a devoted wife of 68 years, mother to 3 children, grandmother to 7, and great grandmother to 4. She was also an accomplished and prolific artist, earning her degree from Herron School of Art and Design, IU, Indianapolis, IN. Much of her art displays clear evidence of her Christian faith.

Her artwork included many media such as wood and stone sculpture, painting, and collages. Her family will remember her daily as we see her art displayed in our homes. Along with art, music was also a passion. Her beautiful soprano voice was part of various church choirs. She loved to listen to classical music and play the piano. When Keith and Claudia first met, one of his favorite things to do was listen to Claudia play the piano. Years later, her children would dance while she played the piano and many nights her children went to sleep while listening to her play.

Claudia had an easy, lovely smile. She kept her home beautifully. She cared for animals and would wrestle the giant German Shepherds the family had around the yard as she took care of them; they always complied. They loved her, too. She theatrically recited poems to her grandchildren and dark chocolate was a favorite.

Claudia is survived by her husband, Keith; daughters Anita (Michael) Smith of Ames, IA; Joyce (John) Petersen of Mankato, MN; son Eric (Jennifer) Eisberg of New Palestine, IN; seven grandchildren: Katherine (Kris) Larsen, Kjirstyn (Louis) Wicklund, Silas (Margaret) Petersen, Lydia Petersen, Jacob Eisberg, Paul Eisberg, and Michael Eisberg; and four great grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her steadfast faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Blessed be her memory.

A funeral service will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 1123 Marsh Street, Mankato, MN on Saturday, January 18 at 11:00 am with Rev. Luke Ulrich presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00. Burial will be held at Woodland Hills in Mankato following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mt.
