Dawn Thompson, age 83 of New Richland, MN, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. A private Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 14th at Apostolic Faith Church in Minneapolis.  Interment will be held at a later date. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dawn was born October 3, 1939 to William & Le Nora Hill on the family farm in Medo township. She grew up in rural Mapleton. On October 13, 1957 she married Alfred Thompson. Dawn & Alfred eventually settled in the rural Waldorf area where they were self-employed and raised 13 children.

Dawn was the kind of person that once you met, you would have not forgotten. She carried the perfect blend of spunk, sass & love to make her unique & unforgettable. Her home was always a welcome haven, where no one knocked and somehow a hot cup of coffee was always ready and waiting for you.

Dawn was a hard worker and loved to bless others. There was not a family function that Dawn was not working behind the scenes to orchestrate a perfectly prepared homecooked meal. Her scalloped potatoes and ham will be legendary comfort food to her family & friends.

Dawn was also a talented sewer. She loved to bless others by sewing them a blanket. She was always busy making sure the blankets were ready for the next wedding, new grandbaby or high school graduate in the family—and there were a lot of them.

Most importantly, Dawn loved the Lord and served Him with her whole heart.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Alfred of 65 years, her children:  Bonni (Kent) Thompson, Kelly (Donny) McCoy, Candy (Kevin) Kuster, Robin (Joel) McCarville, Shannon (Kerby) Thompson, Ken Thompson, Bill (Kristy) Thompson, Sarah Supalla, Mary (Kent) Brolsma, Tim (Jane) Thompson, Billie Jean (Guillermos) Sanchez, her son-in-law Rick Borchardt, 28 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren.

Dawn is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Hill, her daughter Veronica Borchardt, and her son Jeremy Thompson.
