Derryl Kline

Retired postal worker and Mankato resident Derryl D. Kline age 90, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Oaklawn Care Center in Mankato.  Memorial services will be held 11am Thursday, September 8th at Woodland Hills Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Exira Cemetery, Exira, Iowa.

He was born to Dallas and Olga Kline on March 7, 1932 in Exira, Iowa.  He attended Exira High School, Buena Vista College and later Mankato State College graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree.

It was then in 1956, Derryl married Olive Grace Story Eichten.  Their marriage lasted almost 56 years until Olive passed away in 2012.  They enjoyed traveling and especially dancing at various places in town.  Derryl worked for the United States Postal Services where he retired in 1995 with 29 years of service. 

He enjoyed traveling, listening to good country music, playing pool, playing golf and watching sports on TV.  Derryl also enjoyed coming to Oaklawn to help the residents play bingo and Pfeffer. 

Derryl is survived by his wife’s children, Karen Timm of Bloomington and Gary (Joann) Eichten of St Paul and their families; as well as Olive’s niece, Debra Zitek and family; nephew, Terry (Suzanne) Story and many cousins and friends. 

Derryl is preceded in death by his wife, Olive, and his parents.
