Donald "Swede" George Guth Obituary

Donald "Swede" George Guth, age 81, of Mapleton, MN, passed away on February 12, 2024 after a long hard fought battle with a very aggressive form of Cancer.

In 1982, Swede married Sally Ann Jones at the First Presbyterian Church of Kasota, MN, instantly becoming a father to Sally's children Faith and Scott Jones. He was known as a terrific man, a hard worker, a wonderful father, and a spectacular grandfather. Swede dedicated roughly 32 years of his life to the Le Sueur Foundry, retiring in approximately 2004. During his free time, he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, junking, reading the newspapers, and watching sports like the Vikings and Daytona 500. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his grandson, Aaron George Kamm, teaching him the finer points of fishing and making things from junk. Swede also loved watching YouTube with his grandson, even though he didn't always understand what they were watching; for him, it was the time spent together that mattered most.

Swede will be deeply missed by his daughter Faith (Kevin) Kamm, grandson Aaron George Kamm, son Scott Jones, brother Roger Guth, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his wife Sally Guth, father Ronald Guth, mother Caroline Guth, brothers Dennis and James Guth, and sisters Patsy Fischer, Sharon Nagel, Joyce Attenburger, and Lois Steinborn.

A celebration of Swede's life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11 A.M. at the Mapleton Leisure Center, 304 2nd Ave NE, Mapleton, MN 56065. The family worked closely with Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato, MN, to assist with the arrangements. www.woodlandhillsfh.com
