Doris Rowe

Doris Rowe, 96, died Wednesday December 27, 2023 at Generations Child and Memory in Mankato.  Funeral Services will be held at 2pm Thursday January 4, 2024 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the services.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Indoor Mausoleum.  woodlandhillsfh.com.  Memorials are preferred to Red Cross or CADA House.

Doris was born August 28, 1927 in Blackwater Township, North Dakota to Edward and Martha (Tank) Hodges.  She graduated from Garrison High School and went on to study nursing at St. Alexis in Bismarck, ND.  On January 30, 1965 Doris married Denton Rowe in Minneapolis.  She worked in various positions in her nursing career ranging from Emergency Medicine to geriatrics, the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, Director of Nursing, Nursing Home Administrator, and was a registered Red Cross Nurse.  Doris continued to stay active after retirement volunteering with VINE, RSVP, CADA House and reading to the children.  She was an accomplished seamstress and did custom alterations for those with special needs. Family was very important to her and she acted as care giver to her siblings and husband so that they could stay in their homes as they got older and needed more care.  Doris loved the Kiwanis Holiday Lights at Sibley Park and to host holidays, starting the Christmas tradition of getting a pinata for her grandchildren that continued well into the grandchildren’s adulthood. 

She is survived by son, Steven; daughters, Katherine (Jon) and Deborah (Bruce) grandchildren, Julie (Moon), Josh, April (Joshua), and Ashley; great grandchildren; Estella, Luna, and Elliot; and many nieces and nephews.

Doris is preceded by husband; parents; and siblings, Johnnie, Elmer, Marvin, Francis, Vera, Loretta, and two infant brothers
