Dwayne Leonard Matzke, age 88 of Good Thunder, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at New Perspective Senior Living in Mankato.

A Celebration of Dwayne’s Life will be on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. Interment with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

The Matzke Family will greet friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of services at the church. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dwayne Leonard was born on March 4, 1934 to Leonard and Leola (Luedtke) Matzke in Good Thunder, MN. He graduated from Rapidan High School in 1952. Dwayne served his country in the United Sates Army from 1952 to 1956 as an airplane mechanic and co-pilot. He had a love of flying, together with his son Mike they owned two Cessna 172 and 182 airplanes, and also built and flew a Scorpion two place helicopter. Dwayne was a lifetime grain and livestock farmer, and in 1976 Dwayne and his son Mike founded Matzke Farms Inc. He had a love for traveling in his spare time, and enjoyed living in the country. Dwayne was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post #616 both of Good Thunder. Dwayne loved time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve (Carlson) Matzke and her daughters, Deise and Carla; son, Mike Matzke and fiancé Nancy Goettl; daughter, Lindsay and Darrell Palmer and their son Otto; Luke and Anne Matzke and their son, Anders and daughter, Lilly; first wife, Ellen Matzke; brother, Bob Reedstrom and his family; step-daughters and son from 2nd marriage, Lisa, Ashley, Andy, and their families; Along with many family friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons; sister and brother-in-law, Lou Jean and Carl Mathieson; sister Virginia Reedstrom; second wife, Sharon (Bergemann) Matzke.
