Egon Jurgen Mutzke, 94, of Mankato died Monday, December 22, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Joseph Naumann and Rev. Nathanael Mayhew, officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Egon was born June 24, 1931 in Germany to Richard and Martha (Bloch) Mutzke. He moved with his family to the United States in 1950. On February 14, 1953 he married Eunice Bartsch in Mankato. Egon worked as a carpenter for Groebner Construction. He liked to be outdoors gardening, fishing, bird watching and camping. Family was very important to Egon and he loved spending all the time he could with them. He belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato.
Egon is survived by his wife, Eunice; son, Arnold (Susan) Mutzke of Mankato, MN; daughters, Nancy Hengy (Ricky Abdo-friend) of Eagan, MN, Julie (Matt) Westermayer of Mankato, MN, Kathy (Craig) Rozman of Thornton, CO; daughter-in-law, Lorna Mutzke of LeSueur, MN; grandchildren, Bernhard (Andrea) Mutzke, Jr., Brian (Kelsie) Mutzke, Kenneth Mutzke, Grant Hengy, Rachel Hengy, Katie (Tyler) Thomas, Megan (Ryan) Dehmer, Annie Rozman, Katelyn Rozman and Sophie Rozman; great grandchildren, Allie Mutzke, Blake Mutzke, Hunter Mutzke, Tucker Mutzke, Kieran Dehmer, Jack Thomas and Charlie Thomas; sister, Helga Haedt of St. Peter, MN; sisters-in-law, Ruth Olson of Mankato, MN, Norma Strehlo of Isanti, MN, Joan Schroeder of Janesville, MN; brother-in-law, Wayne Anderson of Mankato, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Adolph and Lillian Bartsch, son, Bernhard; son-in-law Jerome Hengy, twin granddaughters, three sisters, Linda Krohn, Edie Graves, Ingrid Mutzke, and one brother Armin Mutzke and sisters-in-law and brothers-in law.
