Elvera Hall

Elvera Leona Hall, age 87, lifelong resident of St. Clair, MN died Friday, June 3, 2022 at Catholic Elder Care in Minneapolis, MN.  Funeral services will be held June 7th at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in St. Clair.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Elvera was born May 23, 1935 on the family farm in rural St. Clair, MN to John and Emma (Risto) Freitag.  She graduated from St. Clair High School in 1953.  Elvera was given a choice at this crossroad in her life between a college education or a sewing machine, long story short, her children were well clothed.  She married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Hall, the following year on June 12th in 1954. The two of them took over the Hall farm, three miles from her home place, and raise their family there.  Elvera was an active farm wife, always assisting her children in 4-H projects as well as showing registered Columbia sheep nationally.  She also enjoyed working at Brown Printing in Waseca for over 30 years until her retirement.  After the passing of her husband she went back to work at Corporate Graphics in Mankato for 10 years.

Elvera’s midlife crisis was to join the Caledonia Curling Club in Mankato.  She participated in the sport for several years, eventually reaching the pinnacle of her sport as a club champion in the mixed couple’s league.  Elvera loved to read; especially murder mysteries.  She also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, traveling and any event her children or grandchildren were involved in. Elvera was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Elvera is survived by her children, Jer (Deni) Hall of Duluth, MN, Kris (John) McCarthy of Minneapolis, MN, Marcus (Daphne) Hall of Bismarck, ND, Jon (Jeanette) of Eagan, MN; grandchildren, Danielle Hall, Keri Anne Hall, Emily Hall, Sam Hall and Phillip Hall; sister-in-law, Joan (JoAnn) Freitag of Janesville, MN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Curt and Caroline Hall of Big Fork, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; son, Timothy in infancy; granddaughter, Katrina; brother, Erv Freitag; sister, Lorraine Throdahl and brother-in-law, Tony Throdahl.
