She was born March 22, 1923 in Amboy, MN to Anton and Amanda (Bruss) Hohenstein, they later divorced.  Amanda later married Harry Stewart in 1953.  Erma graduated from Janesville High School class of 1941.  She attended Bethany College for one year in hopes of being a teacher.  In lieu of a teaching career she took a job at EF Johnson Radio Factory in Waseca during World War II to help support her mother.  On March 14, 1945 Erma married her one and only, Donald Morrill, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Erma and Don had two daughters.  Together they all enjoyed traveling, visiting all the states west and south of Minnesota and Canadian Provinces.  Some Sundays the family would take long drives, occasionally these drives would even take them to some of the surrounding states.  After the girls left home Erma took a job at the Mankato office for the Star Tribune, retiring in 1988.  In her free time she enjoyed rose gardening, jig saw and word search puzzles and continued to travel.  She was active in the Senior Choir, Ruth Circle and Ladies Aid at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North Mankato, MN.  In later years she was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Mankato, MN and the Ladies Guild.

She is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Michael) Veith of Mankato and Nadean  Skorczewski (friend Harvey Engesmoe) of Ivanhoe, MN; 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister in-law, Marge Hohenstein, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents, step father; two brothers, Wallace and Rueben; sister in-law, Dorothy; and Don’s 13 siblings and their spouses.

The family is eternally grateful for the 5 years of wonderful care Erma received at Ecuman Pathstone Living.
