Flora J. Anderson, age 71 of Mankato, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) a Parkinson-Type disease, at her home surrounded by her family.

A Celebration of Flora’s Life will be Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11 A.M. at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato with Deacon Gene Biever officiating. Interment will be on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 1 P.M. at Calvary Cemetery, Pine City, Minnesota.

The Anderson family will greet friends on Friday afternoon from 4-7 P.M. at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to MCHS Hospice or Vine Faith in Action.

Flora was born on June 3, 1951 to Lloyd and Betty (Antansu) Johnsen in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She graduated from Wells High School and went on to further her education at Rochester Vo-Tech earning her LPN nursing degree in November 1970. She was then employed by ISJ hospital in Mankato for a number of years, where she met the love of her life Craig C. Anderson, and on April 17, 1971 they were united in marriage at Bethany Lutheran Church in Judson. Working in the nursing profession she finished her RN degree at Faribault Technical College in 2004. Flora was then employed by a number of facilities in the Mankato area, most recently at School Sisters of Notre Dame, retiring in January of 2020. She was a dedicated homemaker, farmer, Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, a loving spouse, and mother of 3 wonderful children. Flora loved ballroom dancing, traveling, sewing, gardening, and visiting relatives and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Craig Anderson of Mankato, MN; daughter, Emily (John Adams) Thompson of South Bend, IN; sons, Matthew (David Neu) Anderson of Portland, OR. and Nicholas Anderson of Lake Crystal, MN; granddaughters, Lyndsey and Whitney Thompson of Minnetonka, MN, and Richelle Anderson of Lake Crystal, MN; grandson, Daniel Anderson of Rochester, MN; sisters, Rose Romero of Colorado Springs, CO, Christina Langowski of Phoenix, AZ, and Grace Bjerke of Aberdeen, SD; brothers, Lloyd Johnsen Jr. of Portland, OR, and Lyle Johnsen of Aberdeen, SD; mother-in-law, Elaine Anderson of Mankato; sisters-in-law, Martha (Michael) Wiggam of Cheyenne, WY, Margaret (Dave) Kelliher of Minneapolis, MN; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Jeanne) Anderson of Nicollet, MN, Kenwood (Cathy) Anderson of Mankato, MN, and Paul (Joan) Anderson of Mankato; foster-brothers, John Biever of Portage, MI, and Brian Biever of Cambridge, MN; foster-sisters, Lori Biever of Pine City, MN, and Susan Kopecky of Reading, PA; very special foster-parents, Gene (Darlene) Biever who loved, raised and cared for Flora; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Willard Baldwin; father-in-law, Carl M. Anderson; nephew, Daniel Anderson.
