Gertrude E. DeRemer, age 103 of North Mankato, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Oak Terrace in North Mankato.
A Celebration of Gertrude’s Life will be Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Jay Dahlvang officiating. The Family will greet friends on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services at the church. Gertrude was laid to rest in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.
Memorials are preferred and will be donated to Gertrude’s favorite charities. Condolences may also be submitted on the Woodland Hills website. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is handling arrangements.
Gertrude Elizabeth was born on March 22, 1918 to Hjalmar and Anne (Lee) Hoff in Decoria Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. She graduated from Rapidan High School. Gertrude furthered her education at Mankato Commercial College and following completion she was employed as the school secretary for the Dean. On December 30, 1939 she was united in marriage to Glen V. DeRemer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. After her sons Darryl and Gary were born, she was employed by Blue Earth County Extension Services for 25 years. Gertrude and Glen were long time members of Bethlehem Lutheran and were devoted to the Church’s growth and success. They’re passion was traveling the world! They especially enjoyed vacationing in their motorhome across the United States with their grandchildren. After Glen’s passing in 2002, she devoted much of her time to visiting friends and Bethlehem church members. Gertrude loved time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Darryl (Karen) DeRemer of North Mankato; grandchildren, Kim Donahue of Park Rapids, Todd (Melody) DeRemer of Sparks, NV; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great- grandchildren; sister, Joan Mattson of Fort Myers, Florida; 5 generations of nieces and nephews, and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen; son, Gary; 2 sisters, Helen and Margaret; 3 brothers-in-law.
