Holly Jan Smith went to be with Jesus on January 15, 2026, after a brief stay at Laurel’s Peak, Mankato, MN. Holly was born on January 2, 1952 in Mankato to Wm. Stanley and Beverly (Brazier) Smith. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1970 and then attended the U of M – Waseca, earning a degree as a Veterinary Technician. Later, she worked for over 20 years at the Carlson Craft/Navitor companies in the prep area.
Holly loved all animals. At her father’s Lazy S Riding Stable in the 1960’s she enjoyed the horses, dogs and cats. But later in life she raised lovebirds and parrots, caring for an African Grey named Rachel for the last 35 years.
Holly had many health struggles for years but did not fear dying. She wanted to be with Jesus and now she is free and happy.
She is survived by her three brothers-Thomas (Scott) in Minneapolis, MN Douglas (Carol) in Mankato, MN, and Daniel (Elizabeth) in Montana and many nieces and nephews.
No services will be held. We want to thank the Mankato Fire Department and ambulance service, as well as the staff at the Mayo Clinic hospital and St. Croix Hospice for their care the last two weeks of her life. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements. www.woodlandhillsfh.com
