Obituary

Leo “Joe” Schabert died Friday September 1, 2023 at MCHS – Mankato.  A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held from 12-3pm Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Woodland Hills Funeral Home.   Interment will be at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.  woodlandhillsfh.com

Joe was born May 1, 1943 to Joseph “Ben” and Katherine (Garaghty) Schabert in St. Peter. He was united in marriage to Donna Streett on August 29, 1964, they were married for 59 years.   Joe worked at Dotson Co. for 16 years until he opened up his own shoe repair shop, The Country Cobbler, from 1982 until he retired in 2004.  He enjoyed his family, friends, hobbies, and seeing people smile. 

He is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Kevin (Pam) Schabert and James (Heidi) Schabert; grandchildren; Danielle, Layton, Natalie, Cody, and Harli; siblings, Robert, Tom, Patty, and Geri.  He his also survived by his fantail family from around the world.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mike and Larry; and sisters, Diane and Kathleen.
