John "J.R." Rozeske Obituary

John (J.R.) Rozeske, age 74, of Eagle Lake, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

John was born in Watertown, MN, to Leonard and Irene (Quast) Rozeske. He spent most of his childhood in Winsted, MN, and graduated from Holy Trinity High School.

John met Darla Anderegg in 1980, and the two were married in September of 1982 at Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake. Together they built a warm and welcoming home that became a gathering place for family and countless friends throughout the years.

John had a deep passion for farming and agriculture. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in agriculture sales, including more than 23 years with Kerber Milling in Emmetsburg, IA, before later working as an independent swine broker. He loved talking with farmers, lending a hand during harvest, and taking drives to check crops or explore new hog operations. His knowledge of swine production was extensive, and he was always eager to share in conversation about the industry he loved.

John also had many interests outside of work. He was an enthusiastic cook—whether preparing a meal for Darla, hosting a small group of friends, or feeding a crowd. He especially loved barbeque, known for meat that was always juicy and delicious and beans with just the right amount of spice. At home, he could often be found on the lawnmower tending to the yard or helping Darla in their garden. Come fall, his passion for football—and his love/hate relationship with the Minnesota Vikings—became a frequent topic of conversation.

John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Darla; his brother Jim (Lori) Rozeske; brother‑ in‑law Darrell (Lori) Anderegg; sisters‑in‑law Doreen Anderegg, Deb (Mike) Barten, Darcia (Dan) Anderson and Janet Anderegg; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father‑ and mother‑in‑law; brothers Gary and Bob Rozeske; sisters‑in‑law Pat Rozeske and Lori (Sorenson) Anderegg; and brother‑in‑law David Anderegg.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake. Interment will take place at a later date in Eagle Lake Cemetery.

The Rozeske family will greet friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Immediately following the service, John’s Celebration of Life will continue at the Eagle Lake American Legion with a time of fellowship and supper.
