Joyce Eileen Whitmore, age 86, of Mankato, MN died Monday, July 10, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel in Mankato with Pastor Mike Omtvedt officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Joyce was born May 6, 1937 in Dunnell, MN to William and Elise (Lewis) Paulson. She attended elementary school in Dunnell and graduated from Sherburn High School in 1956. On November 29, 1958 she married William Whitmore in Rockdell, MN. They lived in Rochester and Brownsville until moving to Mankato in 1965. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was a cook at the Wagon Wheel Café for many years, then cooked part time for the Mankato Hospital. She also worked at the Free Press for a time. Joyce loved watching the Game Show Network, playing BINGO and cards, her coffee club, going to plays at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater, but most of all loved spending time with her family.
Joyce is survived by her children, Nancy (special friend, Harley) Whitmore, Garden City, William (Monica) Whitmore, Lake Crystal, Patricia (Ralph) DeWitt, Garden City, Steven (Cheri) Whitmore, Lake Crystal, Valerie (Todd) Drumm, Mankato, Jeffrey (Laura) Whitmore, St. James; 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, William (Beth) Paulson, St. Charles, Larry Paulson, Mankato, Karen Paulson Siefkes, Cave Creek, AZ, Elaine (Steve) Booth, Newport Richey, Fl, Dan (Joyce) Paulson, Way Park, MN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband William.
