Julie Stier

Julie Stier, 57, Mankato, passed away Monday August, 28, 2023 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center after years of battling cancer.  Private family services will be held.  A Celebration of Julie’s life will be held October 15th from noon – 3pm at Chankaska Creek Winery, please wear purple.  In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to the American Cancer Society.  woodlandhillsfh.com

Julie was born September 13, 1965 in Mankato to Arvid and Gen (Manthey) Freeberg.  Julie was united in marriage to Tom Stier at Hosanna Lutheran and together they raised two sons, Travis and Tanner. She graduated from Mankato West High School and MSU-Mankato with a degree in Business, and worked for 31 years for Mayo Clinic as a financial director.  Julie enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her BGFL.  She also enjoyed her trips to the casino, sunshine, sand, and the ocean. 

Julie is survived by her husband, Tom Stier of Mankato; sons, Travis and Tanner Stier; brother, Jim Freeberg; many nieces and nephews and her dog, Jax. 

Julie is preceded in death by parents; and sisters, Carol Staples, Judy (Dave) Braam, and Linda Hollenagel.
