Kathleen was born November 17, 1957 in Mankato, MN to Frank & Luella (Johnson) Volk.
Kathy was baptized, as an infant, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. In 1972 she was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake, where she was still a member. Kathy met Roger Albrecht in 1975, during her senior year of high school, through a mutual friend she worked with at Sears. She graduated from Mankato East High School in 1976.
Kathy married Roger on September 18, 1976 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Kathy started working at Kato Engineering, where she worked for 2 years. She then started her career with ComputoService in 1978. Kathy and Roger were blessed with 2 children, Krista in 1979 and Benjamin in 1982. After having her own children, she wanted to spend more time with them, so in 1983 she started her own daycare, which she enjoyed doing for 8 years. In 1991 she went back to work for ComputoService which then had multiple name changes to HickoryTech, Enventis and Consolidated. She ended her career with them in 2015 when they offered early retirement. She wasn’t ready to quit working yet so she worked for several Taylor companies until 2020 when COVID happened. In her “free” time she also sold Home Interiors for 30 years, in which she met many lifelong friends.
Kathy was always ready to lend a hand, cook or bake. She was well known for her cheesy potatoes, pickle wraps, and scotcheroos, to list just a few. She also loved camping, shopping, going on vacation, and doing cross stitch. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends, and cherished any time she had with her 6 grandchildren that she adored.
She is survived by her husband, Roger, of almost 47 years; daughter, Krista (Lucas) Neese and their children Ryker (6), Colton (5) & MaKenna (9 months) of Mankato; son, Ben (Jessie) Albrecht and their children Lillian (11), Harrison (9), & Sullivan (6) of West Lakeland; brothers, Bill (Elaine) Ruch, Frank (Lisa) Volk; sisters, Linda (Rich) Melvin, Clare (Gary) Ferguson; brothers-in-law, Jay (Sandy) Albrecht, George Busch; sister-in-law, Carol Volk; and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Luella Volk; step-mother, Dorothy Volk; parents-in-law, Reginald ("Bud") & Shirley Albrecht; brothers, Rick Volk and Tim Volk; sisters, Laura Lee Volk (in infancy) and Laura Busch; brothers-in-law, Charlie Albrecht and Tom Albrecht; nephew, Matt Young; niece, Jody Volk.
