Linda Marie (Diel) Hanson was born June 22, 1958 to Herb and Betty (Haxton) Diel in Mankato, MN. Linda grew up in Southern MN, finally calling Mankato her home. She went to school at Mankato East. Linda married Thomas Hanson on October 17, 1975, until his death in 1999. Linda worked at Shari Candies for many years and other jobs in Mankato, until her health caused her to retire. Linda enjoyed many hobbies including Bingo, cards, casino trips with her sister Vicky, spending time with family especially with her grandkids, and taking trips with Wes when he would surprise her. Linda’s favorite hobby of them all (even though she complained about it) was her annual Christmas Eve party. She loved to bake, decorate, and order her kids around to get ready. Whether it was family, friends, or a stranger you were always welcomed into her home. Linda didn’t have much, but what she had she always was willing to share whether it be money, food, a place to stay, or someone to talk to (especially gossip).
Linda is survived by her significant other Wes Freiderich, sons Rob (Angie), TJ (Julia), Chad (Amy), Travis (Chloe), Andy (Amber) and daughters Dana (Jay) Chatleain and Kelsey (Andy) Risk. Wes’s daughter Anna. 25 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Brothers, John Haxton, Willie Diel, Kenny Diel and Jack (Marty) Thompson. Sisters, Vicky (Dave) Lohmann, Beth (Steve) Robb. Patty (Brian) Hitchcock and Christy Diel. Many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Tom Hanson, her parents, Tom’s parents (Robert and Margaret Hanson), sister Sandy Blekestad and sister-in-law Elaine Regner.
A Special thank you to Wes for taking her to her countless doctor visits and Dana for being by her side during her hospital stays.
