Linda K. Krueger

Linda K. (Somers) Krueger of rural Eagle Lake died Thursday January 2, 2025 at her home surrounded by her children. After 20 years in remission, Linda was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer in 2017. Ever the medical anomaly, she outlasted doctors’ predictions, and as was her style, she took the scenic route at her own pace.

Linda was born in Waseca, MN on June 6, 1950 to Lillian and Clint Somers. Linda graduated from Waseca High School in 1968. She married Thomas Krueger on June 8, 1974. She was a dedicated farm wife; milking cows, wrangling children and working to perfect her apple pie (which was a successful endeavor). But she was so much more than a domestic delight – she did it all.  She was also an extremely hard-working purchasing agent/buyer for 30+ years, only retiring after Tom’s death in 2022.

Before Linda ignored her mother’s advice to never marry a dairy farmer, Linda worked at Northwest Airlines and seized the opportunity to travel and see some of the world. Retold stories of her experiences inspired her children to enjoy traveling as well. Linda’s friends and family thought of her as the most generous, selfless, and kind-hearted person they had the pleasure of knowing. Her love of nature, the woods she was raised in, traveling and trips to the arboretum with Tom and Becky were favorite pastimes that were only rivaled by her enjoyment of going to breakfast at Bakers Square and her unique fetish with preparing taxes.

Although she would disagree due to her extreme modesty, Linda’s greatest attribute was her big, beautiful smile – she always had a smile for you and in no-time, you’d be laughing along with her quirky sense of humor.

Linda is survived by her four children, Justin (and Mary) Krueger, Luke (and Rhonda) Krueger, Tracy Krueger of rural Eagle Lake, and Fawn (and Nick McMullen) of Mankato; by five (soon to be six) grandchildren, Avery and Clint Krueger, August and Nash Loberg, Klaus McMullen (and another in que.)  She is also survived by three siblings, Janice Kunst of Waseca, Tom (and Becky) Somers of Minnetonka, and Anita (and Dave) Olson of St. Paul, and nine nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Tom, and parents Clint and Lilian Somers.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please plant a tree, enjoy nature’s splendor, find amusement in a child’s laughter, take your mom out to breakfast, adopt a dog, share a fun story about Linda over a beer and pizza, etc.  Every moment is fleeting, and these are small pleasures that would have truly brought joy to Linda.

A brief memorial service will be held Saturday January 11, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 420 Marie Ln, North Mankato, MN 56003.
