Lionel “Butch” Kjolstad, 79, died on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Laurel’s Edge in Mankato. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Born on October 21, 1946, in Mankato to Joseph and Pauline (Forseth) Kjolstad, Butch married Cheryl Statham on October 7, 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1971 and later worked at Atlantis Plastics for 34 years. In his free time, he enjoyed maintaining his cars and watching sports.
Butch is survived by his wife, Cheryl Kjolstad; his children, Todd Kjolstad and Debra Kroubetz; four grandchildren, Darien Kjolstad, Alex Kjolstad, Jacob Kroubetz, and Nathan Kroubetz; his great-granddaughter, Jaziya; and his sister, Linda Schamberger. He was preceded in death by his parents.
